Overtime Manga

Branding, UI, Web Design, NFT's
Project Overview
Create a brand for Overtime's upcoming manga release. Overtime Manga aims to the biggest western sports manga brands.
My Contributions
As the creative director for Overtime Manga I lead the creative direction on everything from the creation of the brand, logo, website, NFT's and also spearheaded the social media across Instagram, TikTok & Twitter.

Overtime Manga is partnered with Saturday AM, a diverse manga publisher from the United States. My role as creative director involved working closely with their manga artists and using their manga designs to help create our brand and direct them on our creative vision for the project.
Overtime Manga website
Being a western sports manga, Overtime Manga is aiming to appeal to typical shonen Anime viewers, which ties in perfectly with Overtime's focus on culture and community. The Anime community is one of the most passionate communities in the world and our goal was to tie this in with basketball and western culture.

Whilst we are creating a manga at first, the goal for this project was to create an entire fictional universe which has the room to take on multiple projects ranging from seperate manga releases, merchandise, anime adaptions and more. When you look at some of the most popular fictional universes ever created (Marvel, Disney, DC etc.) despite there being a plethora of different stories within their universes, they all have the same visual style and identity.

I drew my inspiration for the creative direction from existing cultural inspirations like the sneaker and hype beast communities. When you look at existing anime's, Slam Dunk provides the best example of incorporating sneaker culture into their manga to appeal to a shonen audience.
Inspiration
Visual Development
I created a collection of 10,000 NFT's for NFT FC. This required many different layers that could then be programatically coded to create 10,000 unique combinations.

The inspiration behind the NFT's comes from the street culture of football. FIFA street was such a pivotal part of my childhood, along with many other football fans. The culture of football is also very prevalent in the world cup, often accompanied by bright colours that can be seen in the final NFT's.

Each character in the NFT's is meant to represent the football fan, as without the fans, football would be nothing. To distinguish the designs from normal NFT's, I took liberty with the background to include some football lines and graffiti that tie in with the project.
Branding
Brand development
I designed and created an official website to announce the release of our manga and partnership with Saturday AM. I developed this website on Webflow to allow for dynamic and responsive web pages.

I decided to keep the website minimalistic and focus on the designs of the characters and their back stories. The animated transition between each page was designed to make the minimalistic website feel more intuitive and intriguing.

My role as creative director also involved managing the release of content across social media platforms Tik Tok, Instagram and Twitter. We had a dynamic content approach, creating one asset to be posted across all platforms. As a small team that operated separately from the main Overtime team, we experimented with AI to help us create content both for still images and video content.

Our biggest focus for content creation was community building and engagement. Each piece of content was aimed to engage as many new fans as possible and get them commenting. We also reached out to other anime content creators that grow a relationship with them to to work with them in the future for other marketing releases.
Social media
Content marketing
I worked closely with artists from Saturday AM to create a range of NFT's for Overtime Manga. These NFT's can be used by community members in anyway they want to via the IP behind the NFT.

We really wanted the hypebeast and sneaker culture element to come through with the NFT's, specifically on the clothing and hair styles. Whilst the Saturday AM artists created these layers, I was in charge of creating the clothing to make sure it was in line with the hypebeast style.
